This Earth Day, SJC is proud to announce the renewal of our partnership with Trees for Life for another five years, continuing a decades-long commitment to replenishing one of our most important natural resources.

Through the SJC Partners in Growth® program, launched in 1990, trees are planted on behalf of our print clients for every ton of paper used in their projects. Today, this commitment also includes our printed SJC Media magazine brands: Toronto Life, Maclean’s, FASHION, Chatelaine, Châtelaine and HELLO! Canada.

Trees for Life is a Canadian charity driven to inspire, support and mobilize community-led tree and shrub-planting initiatives. Its mission is to create a healthier, happier Canada by planting native trees where people live, work, and play. Including the work of its first projects, the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign and GrandTrees Climate Solutions, Trees for Life has raised over $18 million to support the planting and stewardship of over 3.3 million trees across Canada. Trees planted on SJC’s behalf in 2025

In 2025, Trees for Life planted trees on our behalf through four key initiatives:

Trees for Heroes
In partnership with Southlake Health Foundation, 100 native trees were planted across three locations at Southlake Regional Hospital, honouring healthcare workers and marking the hospital’s 100-year anniversary.

Trees for Impact
At the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area in Calgary, 10,000 seedlings were planted in a single day with the Calgary Jr. Forest Wardens, helping ensure this long-standing community program can continue for years to come.

Trees for Crisis
Following the devastation of Hurricane Fiona, trees were planted in Charlottetown, PEI to help restore lost canopy, support biodiversity and rebuild critical green infrastructure in impacted areas.

Trees for Environment
In Durham Region, a dense “mini forest” of native trees and shrubs was planted using the Miyawaki method, supporting biodiversity and accelerating ecosystem regeneration.

This work builds on the impact of our ongoing partnership with Trees for Life, which has resulted in thousands of trees planted across Canada each year.

We look forward to many more trees being planted in the communities where we live, work and play, made possible through the continued support of our clients and partners.
