SJC Print has made great strides to minimize its environmental impact and contribute to a sustainable future. With initiatives including energy-saving technologies, minimizing emissions, sustainable paper sourcing, waste management and tree planting, SJC Print has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2024.
Through our 33-year-old Partners in Growth® program, we contribute to the planting of a tree for every ton of paper we use on behalf of client print projects and our SJC Media magazines. In 2022, we contributed to the planting of 20,000 trees through Trees for Life. Read more here.
SJC is Founding Partner of Trees for Life, a national charity founded in 2019 dedicated to funding, planting and stewarding millions of native species in the right places. Inspired by the success of its first campaigns that planted millions of trees, Trees for Life is committed to mobilize and inspire communities across Canada. While Trees for Life plants trees on behalf of SJC’s Partners in Growth® program, SJC helps grow awareness by providing advertising space and hands-on Volunteer Day support.
We prioritize offering a wide range of sustainable paper options from responsibly managed forests for our print clients. Opting for environmental paper not only demonstrates a commitment to preserving natural resources but also contributes to the reduction of deforestation and minimizes the carbon footprint associated with paper production.
Our Toronto and Ottawa Print Centre facilities were designed to be environmentally friendly. We took into consideration building and operation designs from leading plants around for the world and accounted for processes throughout the entire print process, including a trim collection recycling system engineered into the facility.
Through special issues and feature articles, our brands shine a spotlight on the critical issues surrounding climate change in Canada and the need for urgent environmental action.
