Maclean's, Canada's national magazine, has released its highly anticipated 2026 University Rankings, the definitive annual guide to post-secondary education in the country.

Featured in the November issue, the rankings are the cornerstone of the Maclean's Education platform, which is designed to guide students and their families through every step of their academic journey with trusted, insightful information.

For more than 30 years, the Maclean's University Rankings have been a pre-eminent resource for students selecting a university. This year’s edition continues that legacy, measuring the quality of 50 institutions across three categories: Medical Doctoral, Comprehensive and Primarily Undergraduate. The rankings provide a detailed analysis based on several months of research; The special university section also explores top-of-mind issues for families, including student housing, campus life and how students are funding their education.

The 2026 rankings launch highlights the growth of the Maclean's Education program, which now includes a comprehensive suite of multi-platform resources:

  • The Ultimate Guide to Canadian Universities and The Ultimate Guide to Canadian Colleges: Two annual guidebooks providing everything students need to know about admissions, the country's best programs and securing scholarships. Guides and an exclusive School Kit for guidance counsellors are available for purchase online.
  • Message Board: A new, free weekly newsletter for high school students, parents and educators that delivers timely advice on applications, residence life and scholarships to help families make life-defining post-secondary decisions.
