A new biweekly video and audio series expands Chatelaine’s multiplatform offering and creates fresh opportunities for brands to connect with Canadian women.

Chatelaine has launched Group Chat, its first podcast, hosted by editor-in-chief Maureen Halushak.

The new biweekly series brings together Chatelaine editors and special guests for thoughtful, honest conversations about the topics shaping women’s lives today. Each episode explores both cultural moments and real issues, from menopause and weight bias to identity, relationships and everyday life.

Each episode opens with a 10-minute editorial roundtable on trending topics, followed by an interview with a notable Canadian woman connected to Chatelaine’s editorial world. Produced in both video and audio formats, the series is designed to reach audiences wherever they are listening and watching.

For SJC Media, the launch reflects a broader shift in how the Chatelaine brand continues to evolve. Group Chat builds on decades of editorial trust while expanding into formats that feel more immediate, personal and engaging.

This kind of expansion is central to the brand’s long-term strategy.

“For legacy media brands, extensions are essential,” says Chatelaine publisher Tobiasz Woroniecki. “They help us stay relevant and diversify revenue while staying true to our editorial mission. When done right, they sit at the intersection of what readers care about and what advertisers value.”

Like Chatelaine’s awards programs and other editorial initiatives, Group Chat is designed as a repeatable format that can grow across platforms, from YouTube and social to editorial and custom programs. It creates consistency for audiences and flexibility for partners looking to align with trusted content.

Episode one

The inaugural episode sets the tone for the series. Maureen Halushak is joined by obesity specialist Dr. Yoni Freedhoff and television personality Tracy Moore for a conversation about the bias surrounding weight, dieting and obesity treatment.

The discussion continues with Chatelaine’s Chantal Braganza and Andréanne Dion, who reflect on how media, including Chatelaine, has contributed to these narratives in the past.

Here’s a clip from the episode. To watch the full conversation, visit Chatelaine’s YouTube channel or listen wherever you find your podcasts.
