A Chairman's Award recipient is an SJC associate recognized by their peers for their standout efforts in bringing our SJC values to life. Each year we select one recipient from each of our Content, Media and Print divisions. Additionally, consistent in how we integrate newly acquired companies, for its first full year as an SJC division, Assembly had its own award.When our Founder, Gaetano Gagliano, started SJC as a recent immigrant to Canada with a growing family to support, he too faced difficulties and uncertainties. But it’s in sticking to his values and principles: hard work, learning and growing, teamwork, respect for all, caring about the community, that was his key to success. Gaetano always said, “If you live life according to your values and principles, don’t be afraid. Anything is possible.”Each recipient has named their charity of choice to receive a full-page ad in one of our magazines, and all four will appear in a tribute ad to run in Maclean's.

The War Amps is making a difference in the lives of amputees by providing financial assistance for artificial limbs, peer support and information on all aspects of living with amputation.
"I always felt like making a positive difference was important; helping others whenever we can, making life better for everyone within our ability. War Amps works to improve the daily lives of amputees with financial assistance, information resources and advocation. I also believe it is important one can live their lives freely, fully, independently and happily; War Amps not only works to give help to those in need but give them the ability to help themselves and others as well." – Amanda

Project Halo fundraises for SickKids with the mission of raising a million dollars to put a parent lounge in SickKids
"Project Halo is raising funds to better serve parents and caregivers with children at SickKids, wanting to give them a space where they can feel calm and relief and get some rest despite being in a time of crisis. As a mom myself, the cause is close to my heart. It's amazing to see a community come together to help make the absolute worst days of a family's life just a little bit more bearable." – Cassandre

Charity of choice:
University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation plays a vital role in ensuring that many of the most critical components of world-class care are available. Funds raised are used for much needed equipment, facilities, patient programs, research and, helping an exceptional team of health care professionals advance cardiovascular care and save lives everyday.
"I would like to choose the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation because I have a close family member who is a patient there and have seen firsthand the positive impact they make on patients. British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is an animal welfare organization that protect and enhances the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in BC.
"Both of my cats are from local animal welfare organizations (one of which being the BCSPCA). The importance of these organizations cannot be overstated and their impact extends beyond just pets to wildlife and farm animals. I hope the exposure they get from this can help them continue to provide welfare for all animals in need and to help educate people on how their own personal choices can have an impact." – Tyler
