1956
humble beginnings
Upon arrival to Canada in 1954, Gaetano Gagliano worked long days and nights laying track for CP rail to provide for his wife Giuseppina and their five young children. Only two years later, Gaetano pursued his childhood dream and bought his first handheld letterpress. He set it up in thebasement of their family home on Dufferin Street in Toronto.
When Giuseppina first saw the strange gadget, she smiled and teased her husband: “I want to see how you will be able to feed a family of six children with this little machine!”
And so the story of SJC began.
