As a Design/Photography Director, you love bringing creative concepts and designs to life. You are able to translate marketing briefs into compelling solutions that engage, inspire and inform customers. You deliver actionable ideas that are current, on-brand and on-time. You are excited about the fast pace of working on a retail account and the always evolving marketplace.
In this role you will:
- Interpret creative briefs and translate them into actionable creative concepts for mutlichannel retail campaigns that solve business challenges while elevating the brand experience.
- Take ownership of creative projects from conception to execution through to post-production in all aspects of design, layouts, illustration, casting, sets, photography and video and more.
- Inspires and guides the creative, the art directors, designers and photographers, pushing the creative to the next level.
- Collaborate effectively with client and internal cross-functional teams including creative colleagues, art directors, designers, copywriters, account managers, project managers, brand, marketing and more.
- Direct and coach photographers, producers, stylists and other studio partners to deliver on art direction, meet brand standards and exceed creative expectations.
- Understands design and typography
- Demonstrate a passion and curiosity to keep current on trends in branding, marketing, social media, advertising and related industries within fashion, beauty, home decor, food categories and more.
- Demonstrate ability to craft, guide and present creative solutions at all levels.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast paced creative and production environment with multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
- Adhere to schedules, respect budget, process and timelines.

A bit about yourself:
- 8+ years experience working for an advertising agency / national retailer in an Art Director or Designer role.
- Post-secondary education in a related field, graduate of a recognized creative design program, graphics design program or equivalent experience.
- A digital portfolio and/or website of your work
- Brand development and creative Studio experience with fashion, beauty, home decor and food photography. On-set art direction of photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, prop stylists, etc.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and G Suite.
- Strong knowledge of layout design, graphic fundamentals, typography, illustration, composition, photography/video and retouching fundamentals as they relate to print and digital channels.
- Thorough understanding of mutlichannel retail advertising, print, catalogs, interactive communications, social and mass advertising, industry best practices across fashion, home decor and beauty categories.
- Intelligence in new media literacy, storytelling and AI.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to problem solve workload issues and project needs.
- You are collaborative and able to build a business rapport with creative colleagues, producers, studio teams, account team, project managers and more.
- You are a critical thinker who can see the big picture but are adept at questioning details and assumptions, making recommendations and solving problems effectively.
- You can juggle competing deadlines and objectives while staying focused on critical tasks, prioritizing appropriately
- Relationship building is a strength, you gain the trust and support of peers and partners quickly through common ground, collaboration and candor in difficult situations.
- You enjoy adapting to evolving business needs and jump in wherever needed to meet deadlines and balance workloads.
