Toronto, Ontario (November 11, 2011) - At the first annual Canadian Printing Awards (formerly Environmental Printing Awards) on November 10, PrintAction magazine presented St. Joseph CEO Tony Gagliano with the Printing Leader of the Year award, recognizing an individual who displays exceptional commitment to the Canadian printing industry and a high standard of professional achievement.
In his acceptance speech, Tony emphasized the important role Canada and Canadians played in the growth of his father, Gaetano Gagliano’sbasement printing business (now St. Joseph Communications). He also shared one of his favourite quotes by American architect Daniel Burnham, who played a leading role in planning U.S. cities such as Chicago: “Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty.”
Hosted by Dragon Den’s Dianne Buckner and attended by 250 print industry professionals, the awards night was held during the Graphics Canada tradeshow in Toronto. PrintAction also presented St. Joseph Print with a number of quality and environmental awards:
