SUMMARY:

St-Joseph Content, a division of St. Joseph Communications Inc., is the largest multichannel content provider in North America. Pi Media, a division of St. Joseph Content, creates effective, creative content for clients who are interested in single or multichannel advertising. This includes retail flyers, catalogues, web content, and in-store POS, including digital signage.

The Designer influences and directs the client with respect to creative direction and creative solutions for their marketing campaigns. They take design from concept to execution for all branding using multiple marketing channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand the client’s strategic marketing goals and execute creative design / art direction aligned with these goals.
  • Oversee the artistic design of all creative work through superior art direction and present final layouts to the Creative Director and client.
  • Interpret client briefs and develop creative solutions with minimal direction and supervision working closely with the client on their requests and changes with input of senior creative team.
  • Display strategic thinking and a sensibility to photography and typography, providing swipes and/or sketches to communicate an idea and independently see opportunities for broader applications, i.e. campaigns.
  • Participate in the development of presentation approaches in collaboration with the Creative Director and creative team.
  • Work collaboratively with internal production departments to ensure high quality of output in a timely fashion.
  • Continuously challenge the team to develop engaging, powerful creative that communicates the client’s key messages to consumers and drives their business results.
  • Provide design solutions that are on strategy and maintain brand standards.
  • Work within the appropriate production processes and timeframes to ensure both profitability and superior creative quality.
  • Dedication to personal development through continuous studies and knowledge of the creative marketplace and environment of the client(s).
  • Maintain current knowledge of current creative direction in all channels, branding and resources required to complete projects including live references.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • A minimum of 5 years experience working with an advertising agency/ national retailer in a strong designer capacity.
    • Degree or equivalent from a college or university specializing in graphic arts and marketing.
    • A strong understanding and experience with software such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
    • Must possess a thorough understanding of retail advertising, large volume catalogues, interactive communications, advertising, marketing as well as industry best practices.
    • A strong knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, brand development and creative process.
    • Demonstrated talent for high-caliber creative concepts and writing.
    • Ability to develop and execute creative concepts; and clearly communicate concepts to clients.
    • Print and web design capabilities; must know how to work in both media for integrated campaigns.
    • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion.
    • On-set art direction an asset – to create achievable and production friendly images
    • Good written and oral communication skills, polite, courteous, astute with e-communication.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Must be detail oriented, accurate, and efficient.
    • Actively seeks out answers to questions efficiently and independently.
    • Display strategic thinking and analytic skills.
